Manchester Airport Terminals: T2, T3 and Where T1 Went

Manchester Airport has spent a decade rebuilding itself, and the terminal map changed for good in 2025 and 2026. If your memory of MAN involves three ageing terminals, here is the current picture, and which hotel puts you nearest your doors.

Terminal 2: the super-terminal

The £1.3 billion transformation programme made Terminal 2 the airport’s main terminal, handling around three quarters of all flights after its final extension opened in late 2025. Most full-service and long-haul airlines, and much of the holiday traffic, now depart from T2. The closest beds are the Holiday Inn and ibis budget, both about two minutes on foot from the doors.

Terminal 1: closed after 60 years

The majority of Terminal 1 closed on 19 November 2025, ending almost six decades as the airport’s original terminal. Its traffic moved to the extended Terminal 2. In March 2026 the parts of the old building still in service, including its former entrance and security hall, were folded into an expanded Terminal 3, so the name Terminal 1 has left the signage.

Terminal 3: smaller, busier, Ryanair’s home

Terminal 3 continues as the airport’s compact second terminal and gained the former T1 entrance and security area in March 2026. Ryanair is its best-known resident. The Crowne Plaza is about a five-minute walk away, the closest hotel to T3.
